In the Domesday Book it was simply Selvre, from the Latin silva for a wood. In 1113 the manor was given by Robert de Chandos to endow Goldcliff Priory. In 1441 it passed, with the priory, to Tewkesbury Abbey and then in 1474 to the canons of Windsor.

Church of St George, Sampford Brett The Anglican Church of St George in Sampford Brett, Somerset, was built around 1300. It is a Grade II* listed building.

Battlegore Burial Chamber The name “Battlegore” comes from this site being attributed to the location of a Danish raid in 918 AD or 988 AD. Along with three nearby round barrows it has been scheduled as an ancient monument.

Bakelite Museum The Bakelite Museum is a collection of Bakelite and other articles belonging to Patrick Cook that currently is without a home. Patrick Cook is currently living in a retirement home.

Curdon Camp Curdon Camp is a univallate Iron Age hill fort in the West Somerset district of Somerset, England. The camp was nearly completely destroyed by quarrying and bulldozing. A section of the camp remains 2.5 metres (8.2 ft) high on the southern and western sides.
