Knightswood history
Knightswood features on maps by Ordnance Survey cartographer William Roy dating back to 1748–55. The modern area is defined at its northern edge by the Forth and Clyde Canal (beyond which is Bearsden) The earliest recorded settlement in the area was known as the Red Town, a small village supporting ironstone miners and brickmakers.
