Greywell history
The village was not recorded in the Domesday Book, possibly being considered part of Odiham. It was sold to Guy Carleton, 1st Baron Dorchester, and the first Governor General of Canada in 1786. The Basingstoke Canal was never a commercial success and was soon overtaken by the advent of the railway. Agriculture remains the most important local industry, but most residents work elsewhere.

Odiham Castle
Odiham Castle is one of only three fortresses built by King John during his reign. The site was possibly chosen because he had visited the area in 1204 and it lay halfway between Windsor and Winchester.
