Cretingham history
In 1086 it was described as Gretingeham or “Gretingaham” in the Domesday Book and located in the old Hundred of Loes. The village’s name means The people of a gravelly village being derived from the Old English word grēot meaning gravel. There are 21 listed buildings in the parish including the grade II* listed church of St Peter.
