Cranborne dates from Saxon times and was recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Creneburne, meaning stream (bourne) of cranes. In the 10th century the Benedictine abbey known as Cranborne Abbey was founded by a knight. The priory was fully subject to Tewkesbury Abbey until the dissolution of the abbey in 1540.

St Aldhelm’s Church, Boveridge St Aldhelm’s Church is a former Church of England church in Boveridge, Dorset. It was built at the expense of Richard Brouncker in 1838 and became redundant in 1980.

Cranborne Manor Cranborne Manor is a Grade I listed country house in Cranborne, Dorset. The manor dates back to around 1207/8 and was originally a hunting lodge. It was remodelled for The 1st Earl of Salisbury in the early 17th century.

St Giles House, Wimborne St Giles St Giles House is located at Wimborne St Giles in East Dorset in England, just south of Cranborne Chase. It is the ancestral seat of the Ashley-Cooper family, which is headed by the Earl of Shaftesbury. Built in 1651, the Grade I listed house stands in a vast park through which the River Allen flows.

Edmondsham House Edmondsham House is a stately Tudor home near Wimborne Minster in Dorset. It is a Grade II* listed building with Georgian additions.
