Bothwellhaugh Roman Fort Bothwellhaugh Roman Fort is a site now located in Strathclyde Country Park in North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It is east of where the South Calder Water flows into Strathlde Loch. The fort is a scheduled monument.
Motherwell Civic Centre Motherwell Civic Centre is the headquarters of North Lanarkshire Council. The building is a Category B listed building. It is located in Windmillhill Street in Motherwell, North Lanark, Scotland.
Motherwell Town Hall Motherwell Town Hall is a municipal facility in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire. The town hall was the headquarters of the Burgh of Motherwell and Wishaw Council. It is a Category C listed building.
David Colville & Sons David Colville & Sons opened its Dalzell Steel and Iron Works at Motherwell in 1872. By the first World War, it was the largest steel works in Scotland. Nationalised in 1951, it became part of the Iron and Steel Corporation of Great Britain. It was privatised in 1955 and the construction of Ravenscraig steelworks resulted in the closure of its other works.
Ravenscraig Ravenscraig was once the largest hot strip steel mill in western Europe. The steelworks closed in 1992 and is now almost totally demolished. The empty land was redeveloped in the 2010s, with new houses and services being built.
Ravenscraig steelworks The Ravenscraig steelworks consisted of an integrated iron and steel works and a hot strip steel mill. Motherwell was noted as the steel production capital of Scotland, nicknamed Steelopolis. The steel mill was one of four in the United Kingdom.
Shieldmuir railway station Shieldmuir railway station is a railway station in Craigneuk suburb of Wishaw, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It lies on the West Coast Main Line, but is not served by mainline services. Eurocentral Eurocentral is one of the largest industrial estates in Scotland. It is situated on the edge of Holytown and Mossend, North Lanarkshire, just off the M8 motorway, about 12 miles east of Glasgow city centre and 34 mi west of Edinburgh. The Maxim Office Park is a recent addition opening in March 2010.
Newhouse Research Site The Newhouse Research Site is located near the M8 motorway in North Lanarkshire. It employs 250 scientists across a range of disciplines including medicinal chemistry, molecular biology and drug metabolism. It is currently the largest private drug discovery centre in Scotland.
Bellshill Central Parish church Bellshill Central Parish Church is a Parish church of the Church of Scotland. It serves around 70% of the North Lanarkshire town. It is within the Presbytery of Hamilton.
