Baulking history
Saxon charters record the manor as Bedelacinge in 948 and as Baðalacing and Badalacing in 963. Balking and Bedelakinges are other 10th-century spellings of the name.
Manor
King Eadred gave five hides of land at Baulking to his servant Cuthred in 948. It is said he gave the land to the Benedictine Abingdon Abbey. By 1187 the manor had passed to the lords of Kingston Lisle.
