Barkip history
Barkip formed part of the estate of Roughwood in 1874, belonging to William Ralston-Patrick. In the 19th century the population was 995.

Two areas of the rare habitat type known as ‘raised bogs’ are located at Barkip and Little Barkip. The Lands of Pitcon, previously Potconnel now form a small estate of around 100 acres in the Parish of Dalry, North Ayrshire . The present category B listed Georgian mansion house (OS NS 229879, 650628) dates from 1787 .
Geilsland House
Geilsland House lies in between Gateside and Beith in North Ayrshire, Scotland . After serving as a private house it became a school and most recently (2015) has passed into the ownership of the Beith Development Community Trust .
