Trelawnyd history
Trelawnyd is one of Flintshire’s ancient parishes, originally part of Dyserth parish. It became a separate parish between 1254 and 1291, and included townships of Gop, Graig, Pentreffyddion and Rhydlyfnwyd. The village was renamed Newmarket in 1710 by John Wynne who had by then redeveloped much of the village, established industries, a weekly market, and an annual fair.
