Talke history
Talke was made a civil parish in 1932, being transferred from Audley Urban District to Kidsgrove Urban District which subsequently became part of the Borough of Newcastle-under-Lyme. Talke and Talke Pits were formerly mining sites, which are why there are road names such as Coal Pit Hill.
