Pear Tree, Derby history
The suburb derives its name from Pear Tree Farm which was owned by the Peach family from the 18th century. Much of the farmland was sold off for development in the 1860s and 1870s, and the farmhouse was demolished. Industry was encouraged to develop by the opening of the Birmingham and Derby Junction Railway in 1839.
