Euxton history
Euxton’s original village settlement in Pincock was based near the ford over the River Yarrow, along the route of the old Roman road Watling Street – now the A49 road – that runs through the length of the village. The name suggests an Anglo-Saxon origin, with “tun” referring to a farmstead and Efe being a personal name and the later addition of burgh suggesting the settlement had grown and been fortified.
