About Tankersley, South Yorkshire
Tankersley is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Barnsley in South Yorkshire. At the 2001 census it had a population of 1,414, increasing to 1,671 at the 2011 Census. The village is to the west of junction 36 of the M1 motorway and north of the A61 road. It was the site of a battle in the English Civil War 1643.
